Talking About Skincare
Hey everyone!
There wasn’t much going on here on beautytastesgood during the last days, I’ve been so busy and I still am so stressed out, I’m really not feeling good right now… Thankfully Christmas is around the corner, which means the holidays are about to come and there finally will be time to relax and just take a few deeeep breaths to calm down again.
Anyway, today I’m going to talk a bit about skincare and will also start a new mini-series, which will include my very personal skincare routine, the basics, the extras, which products exactly I use, how they work and I also may have some tips for you that can be pretty useful.
The products I use now are the ones I have been using since the beginning of 2013, because back then my combination skin was so out of control (oily and huuuge breakouts to name just a few) that I decided to give natural cosmetics a try. Until then I’d literally bought everything under the sun, from over the counter products to various creams dermatologists recommended to extremely overpriced high-end skincare, but nothing really worked. I’ve been so unhappy and depressed seeing most of the other girls my age getting clear skin after puberty while I was forced to bring my skills in applying foundation, concealer and powder to perfection, all in order to give the illusion of clear, smooth skin. I did not leave the house without make up, because I was ashamed and insecure.
Looking back, starting to use natural cosmetics (I love Dr. Hauschka) was the best decision ever. At first my skin got a bit worse, but I was told that this is totally normal, since all the junk had to get out of my pores. It took about 5 months for my skin to adapt to the new products and ingredients and then I slowly began to notice some changes… Overall, my skin started to feel smoother and seem healthier and it wasn’t getting oily so quickly anymore.
Now I can see the first long-term results. My skin still isn’t perfect, but since I naturally have combination skin I know that it will never be. Nevertheless, over all these months it became softer, clearer and less irritated. Every now and then I get a zit, but it is not that kind of huge, red bump I used to have on my face and it now vanishes pretty quickly. I have to use way less make up than before and I don’t mind going outside with no foundation etc. on my face. Of course I still have some redness and under-eye circles, but in fact… who doesn’t? And remembering how my skin looked at it’s worst, this is an improvement I never even dared to imagine.
Now, to end this first chapter of my mini skincare series I wanted to share something with you that recently happened to me. I was doing the make up on a friend of mine and while I was applying foundation to her face we came up with the topic of bad skin, breakouts and all that stuff. I told her my story and she simply looked at my face (I did not wear any make up at all that day) and said: ‚Well, but I just can’t see any blemishes on your face right now.‘ And with this comment she made me so incredibly happy, two years ago no one would, or rather could, have said that to me. (:
During the next days I will upload two more posts about skincare, one covering all my basic products and a second one featuring all my little extras, that I don’t use on a daily basis. If you have any requests on maybe a 4th post or questions, please tell me in the comment section or via email!
Have a wonderful day everyone and stay tuned!
