Auf der Reeperbahn nachts um halb eins…

Hey everyone!

One reason why we visited Hamburg this week was because Stone Sour was playing a concert on wednesday evening at Große Freiheit 36. Since my mom and I are in love with both their music and their frontman Corey Taylor and also with this beautiful city we didn’t hesitate much as the band announced an additional concert in Hamburg. Flying to a city just because of a concert may seem strange, yeah… But it was SO worth it!
First of all, Große Freiheit is just next to the Reeperbahn and when you are in Hamburg this street is a must (it’s not as dangerous anymore as it was a few years ago, so no worries). So the location was amazing, there were even filmed movies some time ago.

Ein Grund warum wir genau diese Woche nach Hamburg geflogen sind war die Tatsache, dass Stone Sour dort am Mittwoch Abend in der Großen Freiheit 36 ein Konzert gegeben haben. Da meine Mama und ich sowohl ihre Musik, als auch deren Frontmann Corey Taylor lieben und auch diese wundervolle Stadt, haben wir nicht lange gezögert, als die Band einen zusätzlichen Konzerttermin in Hamburg angekündigt hat. In eine Stadt zu fliegen nur wegen einem Konzert mag komisch klingen, ja… Aber das war es wert!
Zunächst mal ist die Große Freiheit direkt neben der Reeperbahn und wenn man in Hamburg ist, ist diese Straße ein Muss (es ist dort nicht mehr so gefährlich, wie noch vor ein paar Jahren, keine Sorge). Die Location war wahnsinn, dort wurden vor einiger Zeit sogar Filme gedreht.

Who really surprised me was the supporting act, Karnivool. At concerts you can be really unlucky with those, until now my experiences weren’t that great, but this Australian band was absolutely amazing! Their lead singer has a wonderful voice (he sounds the same on stage as on the record), their songs were both melodic but also with great guitar riffs and lots of drums and they did a great opening for Stone Sour. The concert itself was breathtaking, literally, since it was freaking hot in there. The crowd was in such a good mood, everybody was singing along, jumping, clapping, sweating, everything at once and you could see that Corey was absolutely enjoying it. I’m a huge fan of his voice and he did not miss a note once. He says something and people just lose it… Including me, especially when he took off his shirt. (;

//Wer mich wirklich überrascht hat, war die Vorband Karnivool. Bei Konzerten kann man da ziemlich Pech haben, ich hab  bisher keine guten Erfahrungen mit Vorbands gehabt, aber diese australische Band ist der Hammer! Der Leadsänger hat eine wundervolle Stimme (er klingt live genau so, wie auf der CD), ihre Songs waren gleichzeitig melodisch, aber auch mit guten Gitarren-Riffs und viel Schlagzeug und sie haben das Konzert toll eröffnet. Ihr solltet mal reinhören! (Link steht im oberen Absatz)
Das Konzert selbst was atemberaubend, im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes, weil es einfach extrem heiß war. Die Menge hatte richtig gute Stimmung, jeder hat mitgesungen, ist gesprungen, hat geklatscht, geschwitzt, alles auf einmal und man konnte sehen, dass Corey es total genossen hat. Ich bin ein großer Fan seiner Stimme und er hat nicht ein einziges Mal falsch gesungen. Er sagt irgendetwas und die Meute rastet aus… Mich eingeschlossen, vor allem, als er sein Shirt ausgezogen hat. (;

Now, when you go to a concert like this you need to be prepared, referring to your clothes. I would recommend wearing shoes that can get dirty and are also comfortable while dancing and standing for a long time. My pair of choice were simple Converse Chucks.
Also your clothes should be kind of ‚resistant‘, so it doesn’t matter if you’re sweating, if beer is spilled over your back or if it’s raining outside. What I do like is wearing lots of bangles and bracelets around my arm, just mix different materials, colours and sizes and it will really make your whole concert outfit unique.

//Nun, wenn man zu solch einem Konzert geht, sollte man vorbereitet sein in Bezug auf die Kleidung. Ich empfehle Schuhe zu tragen, die dreckig werden können und in denen man lange tanzen und stehen kann. Meine Wahl fiel auf Converse Chucks. Eure Kleidung sollte außerdem etwas ‚resistent‘ sein, sodass es kein Problem ist, wenn ihr schwitzt, euch Bier von hinten drüber geschüttet wird, oder wenn es draußen regnet. Was ich gerne mache, ist lauter verschiedene Armbänder zu tragen, mischt einfach unterschiedliche Materialien, Farben und Größen und es wird eurem Konzert Outfit eine ganz eigene Note verleihen.

This was my outfit for the evening. Simple, but comfortable and in my opinion appropriate for the occasion.

All in all it was a wonderful evening and I will go to a Stone Sour concert again as soon as possible (to see them for the 4th time… yeah, I DO love them).
