The title of today’s post proves once again that Carrie Bradshaw knows best. Who wouldn’t like to spend one day in her to-die-for closet, walk those legendary stairs to her apartment (in Manolos obviously) and have, like, the three best friends ever? But it’s more what makes us want to step through the TV right into the world of ‚Sex and the City‚.
Although not all of us may have the chance to write articles for Vogue and wear awesome designer clothes, we still have that one ‚thing‘ we constantly struggle with: Men. As a child you’re told that Prince Charming will come and fight for you no matter what, all you have to do is look beautiful, sing with birds and wait. Sounds good, right? Yeah, disregarding my non-existent ability of hitting the notes I am still waiting for Mr. Right… Maybe I should call the fairy godmother, she always has the best ideas (and dresses) up her sleeve. Anyway, this bubble bursts pretty quickly when you grow older and come to realize that there’s no such thing as fairy dust and Bibidi Babidi Boo. Instead you come across ugly things like jealousy, heartbreak and cheating and for the first time you’re left with the question whether true love does even exist or if it’s just another beautiful lie.
And that’s when you find something that has put down rose-coloured glasses and tells the naked truth about love, life and it’s tragedies: Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda. Okay, these are actually four somethings, but together they show you a world where life is complicated, men are yet beyond complicated and friends are the people who will always be there for you. Of course not all of the situations taking place in SatC are totally realistic, but when you’re at a point where you don’t want to hear that everything is going to be okay, that there are so many other handsome men out there and where even a giant bowl of Ben & Jerry’s doesn’t help, then it’s time for some serious girl talk. In front of the TV. With four women that totally mess up sometimes, but hey, we do too, right? And in fact that’s all we want to see and hear then. We don’t want some well-meant advice from a friend who’s having her own happily ever after with the man of her dreams (we still love you, don’t worry), we want to see that we’re not the only ones despairing with that one thing we love and hate at the same time: Men.
And if all else fails, buy the f****** shoes! (;
